Shepherds Hut
Our stunning shepherds hut invites guests to relax and unwind in a modest cosy space which offers a quality experience. This unique hut has been skilfully designed and handcrafted using recycled and locally sourced materials from base to roof.
Sitting upon a 100 year old hay elevator as a base, the hut has been built using local larch timber and carefully selected materials to create a beautiful holiday retreat made from recycled resources rich in history.
At The Heart of the Glen, we feel that the quality of the experience and making memories is important whilst doing our bit to help sustain and protect our planet. Therefore, our hut is completely off-grid and harnesses the natural elements and transforms it into energy. The hut uses energy generated from the sun for electricity (12 volt) using solar panels. Whilst our steady abundance of pure Scottish rain water is collected and transferred into a refreshing hot shower. Finally, all waste from the composting loo is used to nourish our surrounding native woodland.

Enjoy a comforting and restful stay within our Shepherds Hut, whilst embracing the crisp fresh bedding. Lay rested upon a perfectly soft mattress, whilst gazing effortlessly out of the window.
As evening approaches, fall asleep to the sound of the soothing river, and wake to the warm glowing sun and the harmony of birds singing as dawn breaks.
Wood fired
Our hut is heated using a small wood burning stove that keeps you very warm and toasty throughout your stay.
There will be logs available to burn in the basket provided and extra logs can be purchased from the entrance office.
